Strong, clean, and built to last. See how we helped Jeremy restore safety and beauty to his backyard with a new concrete retaining wall.
Before & After: A Backyard Revival

Project Spotlight: Concrete Retaining Wall Replacement in San Diego
Jeremy had a cracked and crumbling backyard retaining wall that was both unsafe and unsightly. Years of shifting soil and poor drainage had taken their toll, and it was time for a full replacement. Our team stepped in to remove the damaged wall and build a strong, clean, long-lasting concrete block structure in its place.
The Problem
The old retaining wall was failing badly—split open, leaning, and unsafe. It posed a risk to both the landscaping above and the patio space below.
The Solution
We fully removed the broken structure, excavated the roots and soil, and constructed a new concrete CMU wall with proper footing, drainage, and waterproofing.
What This Project Meant
This wasn’t just about a wall—it was about reclaiming a safe, functional outdoor space. Jeremy can now enjoy a backyard that’s not only secure but also much more visually appealing.
Behind the Build: Step-by-Step Ramp Installation

1. Assessing Damage
The old retaining wall showed severe cracks and instability—posing both structural and safety concerns.

2. Wall Demolition Begins
We began carefully breaking down the damaged wall and clearing away debris to prep for excavation.

3. Removing Tree Roots
Large roots embedded behind the wall were cut and cleared to avoid future structural damage.

4. Excavation and Slope Shaping
Soil and root systems were dug out and reshaped to prepare for solid footing and drainage control.

5. Compacting and Measuring
The foundation base was compacted and leveled precisely, setting the stage for a straight, stable wall.

6. Block Installation with Drainage
We laid the first course of blocks on concrete footing and installed a drainage pipe to prevent water buildup.

7. Stucco Finish Applied
After completing the blockwork, we applied a fresh stucco coat to match the surroundings and ensure weather protection.

8. Final Wall Complete
The new retaining wall is structurally sound, cleanly finished, and ready to hold back the hillside for years to come.
