Curbside Retaining Wall in San Diego – Charles & Luna’s Front Yard Makeover
Goodbye slope, hello structure. We helped Charles and Luna secure their yard and enhance curb appeal with a clean, curved retaining wall built to withstand erosion and time.
Before & After: From Eroding Hill to Beautifully Defined Front Yard

Project Spotlight: Retaining Wall for Curbside Safety and Style
Charles and Luna wanted to reclaim their front yard. Over the years, the slope had become a maintenance issue, with overgrown plants and signs of erosion creeping toward the sidewalk. They needed a smart, lasting solution that looked great and protected their home.
The Problem
The steep hill was eroding and crowding the sidewalk. It was hard to landscape, looked untidy, and posed long-term safety concerns. A retaining wall was the only way to stabilize and modernize the space.
The Solution
We designed a curved concrete retaining wall that followed the slope’s natural line. We excavated carefully, framed the path, and poured a strong, clean structure that enhances safety, curb appeal, and property value.
Smart Planning, Precise Execution
This project wasn’t just about looks. It required strategic layout, precise excavation, formwork, and quality concrete finishing. We ensured everything was built to last—from the footing to the final finish.
Behind the Build: 8 Steps to a Strong New Retaining Wall

1. The Slope Before
A steep hill full of uneven plants and erosion threatened the sidewalk and looked overgrown.

2. Excavation Begins
We dug a trench along the slope, laying out a precise line where the wall would sit.

3. Trench Shaped for Wall Footing
The team fine-tuned trench depth and alignment, prepping for a clean, curved layout.

4. Framing for Wall Base
Wood forms were set in place, shaping the curve and height of the future wall.

5. Concrete Poured
We poured the wall’s foundation in sections, carefully filling and smoothing the mold.

6. Smoothing & Finishing
Once the concrete set, we stripped the forms and refined the surface for clean edges.

7. Final Touch-Up
Detail work made sure the finish was smooth, seamless, and perfectly curved to the slope.

8. Finished Wall – Clean, Solid & Secure
The result: a clean concrete retaining wall that protects the slope and looks beautiful from the street.
