BJ came to us with an outdated and underutilized space that once served as a laundry area. The plumbing was exposed, lighting was minimal, and the layout simply didn’t work for a modern bathroom. BJ envisioned a clean, functional walk-in shower with lasting materials and a polished finish.
The Problem
The space was raw and unfinished, with no proper waterproofing, plumbing needed to be rerouted, and framing was not set up to accommodate a walk-in shower. The flooring and wall layout also had to be restructured.
The Solution
Our team performed a complete gut remodel—removing existing fixtures, reworking plumbing and electrical, reinforcing framing, waterproofing all surfaces, and installing a stunning tile shower with built-in niches and glass enclosure.
This wasn’t just an upgrade; it was a complete transformation from the ground up.
Behind the Build: Step-by-Step Shower Remodel
1. Old Setup Removed
We cleared the room of all previous plumbing and fixtures. The exposed pipes and unfinished drywall were stripped to create a blank canvas.
2. Demo & Plumbing Work
We opened the walls and subfloor to access and reconfigure plumbing. Drain lines, water lines, and venting were all upgraded to meet modern code.
3. Framing & Electrical Setup
We framed the shower enclosure, adjusted ceiling height, and installed proper electrical lines for new overhead lighting and a fan.
4. Cement Board Installation
Water-resistant cement backer boards were secured to form the base shower walls. We also poured a preslope for the new shower pan.
5. Waterproofing Stage
All seams, corners, and screws were sealed using RedGard waterproofing membrane. We applied two full coats to ensure leak prevention.
6. Final Shower Pan Formed
A final mortar bed was poured with correct slope toward the drain. This ensures durability and prevents water pooling.
7. Tile Installation Begins
BJ selected large subway-style tile with a grey accent band and custom niches. Each tile was carefully leveled and spaced for a clean look.
8. Finished Shower – Clean & Modern
The frameless glass shower door was installed and tile grout sealed. The new shower now feels spacious, light, and modern.
