Custom paver steps, clean design, and a complete front yard upgrade—built to enhance curb appeal and function.
Before & After: Multi-Level Entry Reimagined

Project Spotlight: San Diego Front Yard Paver Steps and Hardscape
After we completed Isaac’s side yard paver walkway, he asked us back to handle a more complex challenge: a sloped front yard with old patchy grass and no defined entry path. The solution was a modern set of tiered paver steps paired with precise landscaping and hardscape layout—creating both beauty and usability.
The Problem
Isaac’s front yard had no defined path from the street or driveway to the front door. The slope made access awkward, especially during rain, and the grass was sparse and uneven. He needed a clean layout with functional access—while still keeping a warm, welcoming curb appeal.
The Solution
We designed and installed a full stair system using large-format concrete pavers, integrating them into a gently sloped yard with surrounding hardscape. Each stair was built for durability, balance, and symmetry, and we matched the pavers with those used in the previous project to keep a consistent design language across the property.
Behind the Build: Step-by-Step Paver Stair & Hardscape Installation

1. Demolition and Site Prep
We removed the existing turf and prepped the area for excavation, leveling the work zone for consistent stair rise and run.

2. Stair Layout and Framing
Wood framing and guide lines were used to mark the entire stair structure in the dirt, defining height and spacing precisely.

3. Trenching and Gravel Base
Each step footing was dug out and filled with gravel and compacted, ensuring strong support beneath every tread.

4. Concrete and Block Foundations
We built the stair risers using block and concrete to form a permanent base for each paver installation.

5. Paver Tread Installation
Large pavers were cut and installed as stair treads, matched in color and texture with the rest of the yard hardscape.

6. Grading and Fill Around Steps
Soil was graded and leveled around the new stairs to prepare for final landscaping and to control erosion.

7. Lighting and Planting Coordination
Landscape lighting and irrigation lines were integrated near the steps, enhancing visibility and aesthetics at night.

8. Final Touches and Cleanup
We swept in joint sand, cleaned the site, and walked Isaac through the finished design—fully functional, modern, and beautiful.
