From tight squeeze to open space—see how we reworked the layout and gave Kyle and Hope a kitchen that feels brand new.
Before & After: From Cramped Kitchen to Comfortable Living
Project Spotlight: Kitchen Remodel with Wall Removal in San Diego
Kyle and Hope wanted to update their kitchen, but more importantly—they needed space. Their original kitchen had a narrow wall opening, so tight that only one person could walk through at a time. It felt boxed in, inefficient, and outdated.
Their goal: a bigger, brighter kitchen with more room to move, cook, and enjoy daily life.
The Problem
The small entry and poor layout made the kitchen feel tight and disconnected from the rest of the house. The narrow pass-through restricted movement and blocked the flow of natural light.
The Solution
We removed the restrictive wall and framed a wider opening to improve accessibility. Then we gutted the old kitchen, prepped the space, installed new cabinets, countertops, lighting, and finished with beautiful tile work and fresh paint.
The result is a sleek, functional kitchen that feels twice as large—without needing an addition.
Behind the Build: Step-by-Step Kitchen Remodel
1. Framing the New Opening
We removed the original tight framing and installed a structural beam to widen the kitchen entrance.
2. Wall Demolition and Prep
All cabinets, drywall, and old systems were removed to expose clean wall surfaces and electrical lines.
3. Dust Protection Setup
We sealed off work areas with plastic sheeting to prevent dust from spreading to the rest of the house.
4. Wall Patching and Electrical Prep
Electrical boxes and plumbing were relocated while walls were patched and prepped for new finishes.
5. Cabinet Installation Begins
The new cabinet layout was installed with a clean, modern look, making better use of the space.
6. Countertop Placement
Quartz countertops were installed with precision—adding style and durability.
7. Backsplash and Finishes
We installed a clean subway tile backsplash and installed appliances, hardware, and trim.
8.Final Result – Bright, Spacious & Modern
The kitchen now feels open and inviting, with more space, natural light, and better flow for daily life.
