We fully demolished the tub area, framed a custom walk-in shower, waterproofed the space, and installed large wall tiles with mosaic inlays and two built-in niches for convenience and style.

Behind the Build: Step-by-Step Walk-In Shower Remodel
1. Before: Outdated & Crowded Shower
The original shower-tub combo was dated and hard to navigate—especially for a senior homeowner.
2. Demolition & Framing
We removed the entire tub and surrounding walls, exposing the framing and insulating for sound and warmth.
3. Shower Pan Waterproofing
A durable waterproof membrane was applied to the new pan to protect against future leaks.
4. Cement Board & Waterproofing Installed
Cement board went up with red waterproof sealing at all seams, plus two custom niches for storage.
5. Tile Base Installation Begins
We laid the first row of large-format tiles, carefully leveling for long-term durability.
6. Tiling Progress: Full Wall Coverage
Wall tiling continued with precise cuts around the niches and window, ensuring a tight, professional fit.
7. Accent Strip & Grouting
A decorative black tile strip was added for contrast, and the walls were grouted and cleaned.
8. Final Result: Safe, Stylish, and Senior-Friendly
Walter now enjoys a fully tiled walk-in shower with hand-held sprayer, built-in niches, and beautiful finishes.
